Because we love our Village, our children, and our residents, we no longer wish
to live with a situation that makes us feel unsafe and uncomfortable. Many of you
may still not be aware of the cell tower situation. There are between 40-52 cell phone antennas already on the water tower, and a proposed (passed) six new microwave radio police antennas to be added. Most of you probably had no idea when the antennas were originally installed in 1993, or how many have been added since 2003. Our lack of knowledge is in large part due to the Village’s failure to send the required certified letter explaining the use for the wireless telecommunication facility (the Village has stated as much in Local Law 2002-8 Section 17). We lead busy lives and such a certified letter, return receipt requested, would have enlightened us well before the development of our present situation. We have tried every persuasive measure possible to convince the Mayor and the Village Trustees to remove or move the existing cell phone antennas, and not to pass the new microwave equipment on our already very compromised water tower - but have had no success. Our only recourse (in the Mayor’s own words) is to take the matter of the illegal cell phone antennas to court. Yes the cell phone towers have been illegally installed!!! According to the deeded property that houses the cell tower, the property was never to be used for commercial enterprise (the Village collects rent from the cell phone companies), or for anything that was dangerous, obnoxious or offensive to homeowners within a mile of the tower.

We have two choices:

1) Do nothing and live with our fear and worry about the cell tower affecting our children’s
    health

2) To see this through in court and fight to remove this danger.

Property Values Lowered

We are not only protecting our school children. We must consider the obvious effect that the cell tower will have on our property values. Your house is probably your largest investment as well as your most valuable asset. Our property values may be significantly reduced by the current and proposed antennas.

Risk to Our Water Supply

No less important than the above is the fact that all of this equipment admittedly emits radiation and sits on top of our water supply - the very water we drink! We want our safe Bayville back – we want those antennas gone so that we do not add another toxic
factor to the air we breathe and perhaps the water we drink. This is a very controversial issue - so much so that many counties around the country have banned cell towers being placed close to schools.
